Europe’s Cookie Consent

This is an interesting article on Tech Crunch how companies persuade you to accept all cookies by making it as difficult as possible to reject all cookies while it’s always one click to accept. Europe’s cookie consent reckoning is coming details the devious practices companies use.

So it’s good that Tech Crunch also illustrates the point when you try not not accept cookies.

Image shows the text on Tech Crunch site that you see when managing cookies. The key point is that in one click you can 'accept all', there is no 'reject all button.'

So with one simple click I can accept all cookies, but no option to reject all!

Anyway, let’s manage cookies.

Image shows the list you see of cookies you need to accept or reject. Only 'accept all' is given, no 'reject all.'

Again I can easily accept everything, but can’t reject with the boring exercise of going through each category and turning them off – on principal I have!

The point of the article is that this type of behaviour is almost certainly illegal in the EU under GDPR, so perhaps Tech Crunch can start by cleaning up its act.
