Is Genetic Engineering [or GE] benefícial?

Depending on what we are, the answers may well vary, and they all make sense, but in my view, genetic engineering, or GE, is almost always benefícial. Now let me explain the details.

First, GE helps boost crop production. On this point, experts estimate that the global population will hit 10 billion by 2050. So, we need to raise food production by almost 70% to feed them all. That is why we should try every promising technology available to ensure food security. In addition, GE is also helping to quickly develop useful drugs and vaccines.

Next, I understand some may argue that GE can be misused, such as to develop bioweapons. Certainly, we should be careful in its responsible use. But the UN Sustainable Development Goals have listed “eradicating hunger” as one of their key challenges. Given the expected global food shortage, we should embrace GE to meet this demand.

Therefore, even though GE is a new technology, we can be optimistic about its potential and find ways to improve it to make our future better. Thank you for your attention. [181 Words Type-O]
