Hi folks and Happy New Year!
I've just joined Vivaldi as a developer and came across a curious issue – some websites distributing Vivaldi installers that have a potentially unwanted software. I thought I’d reach out to you all to see how big of an issue this is — and also take this as an opportunity to introduce myself.
What a year it has been! In 2016, Vivaldi has launched its first version, and now we’re wrapping up the year with the 1.6 release, which came out last week.
December is the time when I reflect on the year gone by and make plans for the next one. The year of 2016 has been great for Vivaldi. I’m proud and appreciative of all the efforts put in by our team and our community – and all the support we have received from all of you along the way.
The best products do two things well: Features and details. Features are what draw people to the product and details are what keep them there. Only a few weeks ago, we forayed into the IoT space with our previous release and received very positive feedback. Thank you. With the same level of excitement, we’re continuing the Vivaldi journey today with features that focus on details. Vivaldi 1.6 is ready.
With its latest release, Vivaldi becomes the world’s first browser to let you control your smart-home lighting. Taking Vivaldi into the space of the Internet of Things through the Philips Hue wireless lighting system integration is just the first step in exploring this evolution of Internet technology.
Within a decade, many homes will have hundreds of devices connected to the web. We began this journey as Internet and web technologies began to take hold of the desktops of many people worldwide. The journey has given us the Internet on PCs, mobile and other devices. Impressive as these innovations may seem, there is a lot more to come – and a lot of work to be done.
